Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy that pertains to the nature of beauty and taste.

The aesthetic philosophy behind Moe’s Home Collection is the concept of the oasis: “At Moe’s we believe your home should be your oasis. After a long day at work, people want to come home to an environment that is peaceful, relaxing and makes them smile,” says owner Curtis Vertefeuille.

The narrative behind the visual philosophy of Moe’s is conveyed through a sense of connection expressed through calming plant-based tones and earthy hues that enhance and soothe the senses.

The peaceful earthy hues contrast with striking dark and carbonized wood accents which heighten the senses and open the mind for creative and expansive thinking.

The dark wood elements also add hints of theatrical flair, which former actor Curtis loves: “I love the magic of the theatre, it’s inspirational. There is an immense amount of creativity that goes into theatre, from costumes to the lighting- it is all there to tell a story and make people feel.”

“The way I see it, the sales floor is my stage and we are live everyday! I want pieces that create discussion and make people think,” says Curtis.

Curtis’ favorite chair is The Hanley Accent Chair, because it’s “the coziest chair ever made” with natural long hair sheepskin.

He also loves the The Luxe Signature Modular Sectional because it’s comfortable with a low profile with clean lines. It’s modular, it’s functional and adaptable to large or small spaces.

Moe’s Home Collections works closely with Josée Lalonde Design and Spaciz in Victoria as well as Yorkshire Design on Salt Spring Island.
