Even though Spring is very much in sight, the winter weeks seem to be dragging on. Why not enjoy some respite from the dreary rain and take in some contemporary art with your bubble?

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is hosting a Free Public Open House this Saturday, Feb. 27 to invite Victorians to safely explore Celebrating the AGGV Collection

Introduced as part of the Open House (the AGGV re-opened in May 2020), Celebrating the AGGV Collection is a new installation of contemporary art in the Ker Gallery which intends to create a monochromatic space encouraging reflection.

Celebrating the AGGV Collection is a great opportunity to continue to dive into the permanent collection and see what works are long overdue for display, or to reconsider which artists and stories can be highlighted in this process,” said Nicole Stanbridge, AGGV Curator of Engagement.

“These works highlight various time periods, cultures and techniques. Aspects of design, architecture, craft, history and identity are present within the space for consideration,” said Nicole

The new installation includes work by: Sybil Andrews, Ghitta Caiserman-Roth, Robert De Castro, Judi Dyelle, Rodney Graham, Kiakshuk, Latcholassie Akesuk, lessLIE, Sol Lewitt, Medrie MacPhee, Luanne Martineau, Naoko Matsubara, Waine Ryzak, Dylan Thomas and Vredaparis.
