The Vox Humana Chamber Choir presents an exclusive performance of The Little Match Girl by musical composer David Lang. The concert runs April 4 in Mill Bay, April 5 in Saanichton and April 6 in Victoria.
Based on the short story by Hans Christian Andersen, Lang combines the original story with influences from various sources, including Bach’s St. Matthew Passion. Awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2008, this exclusive performance will be performed with four soloists, in its original form, featuring two members of Vox Humana and two members of Vancouver Chamber Choir: Kristen Birley, soprano; Stephanie Sartore, mezzo; Carman J. Price, tenor; Steven Bélanger, bass, along with Brian Wismath, conductor.
