This winter’s bright spot is the return of Dine Around and Stay in Town Victoria, which runs January 20 to February 6, 2022.

Twelve hotels and over 50 restaurants from the Greater Victoria area will offer special rates and three-course menus as part of the event, which is produced by the BC Restaurant and Food Services Association – Victoria Chapter (BCRFA) in association with Destination Greater Victoria.

This year, more than ever, the event is an opportunity for locals to support a beleaguered industry hard hit by the effects of the pandemic. “Dine Around & Stay in Town Victoria is a great way to promote our community’s amazing food scene,” says Peter de Bruyn, Chair of the BCRFA. “This festival has become the premier culinary program in Greater Victoria. It highlights our talented chefs and restaurateurs, as well as attracting countless customers to their favourite restaurants.”

Paul Nursey, CEO of Destination Greater Victoria notes “to be a world-class destination, you must have a world-class culinary scene. [The region’s] restaurants create outstanding options from a variety of traditions. There is not only a high-quality to our food and drink offerings, but Victoria has more restaurants per capita than any other city in Canada. The choice is tremendous for locals as well as those visiting our community.”

New this year: a lottery and contest.

A fundraiser for the BC Hospitality Foundation (BCHF), the lottery offers bidders a chance to win prize packages that include transportation, fine dining, and luxury accommodation in Greater Victoria.

A BCHF scholarship will be awarded to a Greater Victoria hospitality and tourism student in May 2022, with partial proceeds from the lottery. “The COVID-19 pandemic has created many challenges for the Greater Victoria restaurant and hotel industries. Supporting these businesses through an established brand like Dine Around creates material benefits to help overcome these challenges,” says Peter De Bruyn. Lottery details can be found here: https://bchospitalityfoundation.com/.

The Dine Around 2022 contest is a chance to win gift certificates from local restaurants totalling $500 and, alongside the lottery, also runs January 20 to February 6.
