The fourth annual Dîner en Blanc Victoria saw a crowd of 1,700 descend on the grounds of the Delta Ocean Pointe for the elegant picnic, where attendees dress in head-to-toe white. Guests learned the secret location moments before the pop-up event began, with many arriving by pedestrian routes from downtown Victoria over the Blue Bridge.
While many guests brought their own gourmet fare, Dan Hayes, The London Chef, provided catered food options for those picnickers who preferred a chef-prepared meal.
The evening was filled with several special moments, including the waving cloth napkins to mark the beginning of dinner and lighting sparklers to let guests signal that it was time to dance. Entertainment throughout the evening included Dixie Dreamboat, the Familiar Wild and the Eryn Sharpe Trio.
The event has been previously held in Victoria at St. Ann’s Academy, Fisherman’s Wharf and Ship’s Point. Launched in Paris in 1988 by François Pasquier and a handful of friends, Le Dîner en Blanc has become a worldwide affair. In Victoria, the event is hosted and organized by Brink Events and The Social Concierge.
