The Belfry Theatre is looking to heat up Victoria this winter with a production of David Ives’ Tony-nominated play, Venus in Fur. From November 11 to December 14, audiences are invited to form their own opinion of the play that the New York Times described as, “Good, kinky fun.”
This Tony Award-nominated play-within-a-play turns the tables, as a young actress, Vanda, tangles with Thomas, a director increasingly intrigued by her. Described as funny and stimulating, the story weaves sex and power into an exhilarating game of cat and mouse. Is Vanda willing to do anything for a part? Or is she Thomas’ nemesis?
Directed by Michael Shamata, Venus in Fur stars Vincent Gale as Thomas and Celine Stubel as Vanda.
