The current pandemic has caused widespread cancellations, but luckily giving back to the community continues. While the Mother’s Day Shoebox Campaign — run in the past by Mayfair Optometric Clinic — will not be able to collect items for moms in need this year, the organizers will help in another way.

“COVID-19 is forcing many of us to do things differently and with less contact,” says Mary Lou Newbold, Chief Eyecare Officer and co-owner of Mayfair Optometric Clinic. “But this does not change the fact we have mothers in our community that need to know they are supported, admired and loved.”

Mayfair Optometric Clinic — along with YAM magazine, Victoria HarbourCats and Save On Foods on Vancouver Street — is making a community appeal to collect donations for moms in need this Mother’s Day. Recipients will receive a special message of support along with a Save On Foods gift card. The cards will be distributed through local community groups and personal delivery the week of Mother’s Day.

How to donate to the 2020 Victoria Mother’s Day Appeal
Call the Harbour Cats office at 778-265-0327, on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Donations will be accepted in $25 increments, via credit card only.

Consider adding a thoughtful message or phrase that can be included with your gift when it is delivered or have us write a message for you.
