A made-in-B.C. collaboration has Victoria-based Viberg Boots teaming up with Fluevog to create an iconic two-tone, lace-to-toe boot, made using black and Colour 8 Chromexcel leather from heritage Chicago tannery, Horween.
“We’re very pleased to celebrate our 50th anniversary with Viberg through this collaboration,” says founder John Fluevog. “Two iconic family-owned shoe businesses — Fluevog at 50 years and our friends at Viberg at over 100.”
The boots — which references Fluevog’s original boxer-inspired Racer Boot — will retail for $700 USD on Viberg’s site and will be available for pre-order only, with sales ending Monday, November 23. All pre-order Fluevog x Viberg boots ship with a card of authenticity signed by John Fluevog and Glen Viberg, one set of Cedar Shoe Trees and one 4oz bottle of Shoe Cream. The collaboration is part of Fluevog’s celebration of its 50th anniversary and 10 per cent of sales goes to the BC Parks Foundation.
“It’s a rare thing indeed to last this distance with a specific hands-on craft in Canada, especially in the footwear industry,” Fluevog says. “We have both succeeded, against all odds, and that is something we can be proud of. Thanks to the family at Viberg for keeping the craft going and may we both see another 100 years of quality handmade footwear.
