Each year, the ice arena is transformed into a breathtaking 17,000-square-foot gallery showcasing over 370 original works of art — a true celebration of the region’s artistic talent. Now in its 39th year, the Sooke Fine Arts Show is the largest juried art show on Vancouver Island and a highlight of the summer arts calendar. This beloved 10-day festival brings together artists, art lovers, and curious newcomers for an immersive cultural experience that runs from the last week of July through the BC Day long weekend.

Beyond the impressive artworks, visitors can enjoy live music, artist demos, informative talks, and creative activities for all ages. From a leisurely seniors’ afternoon tea to vibrant family and youth programs, there’s something to inspire everyone.

Art enthusiasts can take home a piece of the show by purchasing works from the main gallery or the gift shop, and admire pieces by emerging young artists in the Youth Art Gallery, featuring creations from School District 62 students.

This year, over 270 established and emerging artists will display their original paintings, sculptures, photography, fibre art, ceramics, and hand-formed jewelry. More than $12,000 in awards will be presented to artists who demonstrate outstanding creativity and skill.

Jennifer Hayward, Executive Director of the Sooke Fine Arts Society, shares the excitement, stating, “It’s so incredibly inspiring to see so much talent come together once again — we can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

Bringing this incredible event to life is a team of more than 300 dedicated volunteers who pour their hearts into every detail — from constructing and lighting the gallery, to arranging the artwork and welcoming guests — ensuring a memorable experience for all ages.

The festivities kick off with the exclusive Purchasers’ Preview Night on Friday, July 25, where ticket holders enjoy early access to the gallery, fine wine, and hors d’oeuvres — plus the first chance to buy their favourite pieces. Tickets for this special evening are $55 + GST and available online at sookefinearts.com (advance purchase only).
