With this major renovation in Cordova Bay, designers Tracey Lamoureux and Carley Fisher of interior design and décor firm Creative Spaciz wanted the feeling of a high-end hotel within a personal home. To achieve this welcoming and cultured ambience — which the designers describe as “traditional elegance with a slight hint of Tuscany” — they used timeless elements, such as the opulent light fixtures, along with sophisticated finishes, including patterned marble flooring, wide-planked dark oak hardwood and quartz countertops.

A notable element in the open-concept kitchen is the coffered ceiling, which acts to define the space. It is highlighted by the Victoria Hotel Pendant lights from Restoration Hardware. The large island has a Cambria quartz countertop and corbels that match the custom millwork. The cabinetry features oil-rubbed bronze hardware and brass accent handles.

“Our clients wanted to create a much more open concept to work with their highly social lifestyle, which [to them] meant a welcoming home always full of family and friends,” Lamoureux says.

Places to entertain abound in the 6,000 square-foot home. In addition to the distinctive elegance of the dining room, there is a wine room, a bar and an enticing pool area with its own waterfall feature and fireplace.

A favourite element in the home for the designers is the walk-in closet, which was converted from an existing bedroom. Featuring custom millwork, plush wool carpeting, a quartz-topped peninsula and its own bathroom, it’s “an absolute throw-caution-to-the-wind room.”

The 19th century Casbah Crystal Chandeliers from Restoration Hardware in the dining room were the inspiration and jumping-off point for the dramatic statement lighting throughout the house.

The walnut butcher block with mitred edges acts as a great prep area in the kitchen. Concealed in the millwork is a hidden pantry, shown here with the door open. A backsplash of cream and pearl mosaic tile accents the arched millwork detail.

The opulent lighting seen throughout the house carries into the pool area, where there are two striking chandeliers from McLaren Lighting. The water feature was finished in porcelain tile and stone, with the water falling off a quartz shelf. The large windows offer a gorgeous view of Mount Baker.
